A picture that Gatlin’s mother posted showed Gatlin and her deceased father. The two looked to be standing next to each other, wearing identical red t-shirts.

Gatlin was shot in Jackson, according to Jackson police, on Barnes Street. The incident happened on Thursday at 8:40 o’clock.
